A Trip to Idaho Falls

We had a great week in Idaho Falls with Grandpa and Grandma, Chad, Grandma Kiesling, Ashley, Braxton, and Taylor. It was fun to spend time together crafting, eating out, and running around. It sure made my kids 3 weeks of off-track go a little faster. (Thanks to everyone for that!)

Last Weekend's BYU game

Last weekend, we spent some time with Heath's family. They all came to Utah so that we could go to the BYU game. The weather was cold, rainey, and snowy, but we braved it and enjoyed 3 quarters before the snow dumped.

Halloween Tradition's

For as long as I can remember, we have been eating Chili and Scones on Halloween!! I remember going to my cousin's house every year! When my aunt passed away, my mom kept up her tradition and now it a family Halloween thing that we can't go without! When we (probably my aunt too .. I don't remember for sure) make scones we always use the infamous Rhoades Dough. It is easy. Recently, I decided it might me fun to try to make scones from scratch so that I could make them this year for our tradition dinner. So last night, I tried this recipe from a friend. They were yummy and easy!! The recipe worked great for scones and since we had extra dough, I decided to try rolls. I think these are the prettiest rolls I have ever made! Anyways, try out this recipe for great scones, rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, orange rolls, or even chicken roll ups! (Let me know if you want any of the other recipe variation's .. the dough is the same.) I would love to know what your Halloween Traditions Are???

It's Only The Beginning

Today, was the official beginning of Taylee and Tydon's 3 weeks off~track break! (These three weeks will tell if I am going to like this year round school stuff ... I am worried we are all going to go crazy!) It was a BIG last day celebration! Tydon had his class Unusual Pet Show and program with singing and dancing, Taylee celebrated with a Fall Festival, and we ended the day with a Halloween Party put on by our ward's young men and women. Here is a glance into our Day!

My Favorite Chair

Who would have thought that these chairs would be my most favorite! Most people love their comfortable recliner or their over sized lounge chair, but not me! I love my old, rustic chairs that I cut the middle out of so that I can plant them with my favorite flowers each season or use to house my Fall and Christmas Porch Decor. So, you might ask what is the big deal?

Well, here is my story !!

When we moved to Idaho Falls from Meridian back in April, we left our garage packed full with our "stuff" that needed stored. These 3 old chairs were just a few of the things left behind with all the intentions of someday returning for. When Heath got his job in Utah, I sent him and his brother to our house to gather all of our things and load them into the ABF trailer. (Bad, idea. Never send two men to gather and load your possessions!) Before they left, I gave Heath a list of things that he was to bring with him and then we had a pile of "junk" that needed to go to the D.I. Never the less, Heath took it upon himself to pick and choose what exactly he thought would fit in the trailer and left behind things that he deemed as unimportant! Well, of course my 3 favorite chairs (along with all of our baby goods) got left behind. When I realized that he didn't have my chairs I threw the biggest stink because I had specifically told him to bring the darn things! To top it off, a few days later I find out that our good friends ~ the Capell's and the Buhler's all got stuck dealing with our junk pile! Heath did not even take the things that he deemed as "junk" to the D.I. I was grateful to find out that my chairs had not been given away, but felt horrible that our good friends got stuck dealing with our mess. Anyways, Christian made a trip down to Utah for work and brought me my beloved chairs! I am so excited to have my porch accessory and still have 2 chairs to grow with!

(P.S. Each week I think of something else that is missing and am just sure that Heath decided that it was junk and left it behind! DON"T SEND YOUR HUSBAND TO DECIDE WHAT YOUR FAMILIES IMPORTANT POSSESSIONS ARE!! Hee Hee!)

Thanks to our awesome friends, whom I begged to save my precious chairs, Heath's "Bacon" has been saved and my "Favorite Chair" is home and back where it belongs on my porch. It has been decorated for Halloween and will soon be filled with tulip bulbs for awesome spring decor!

Love Was In The Air

On Friday, I stopped in at Scrapworks to pick up a few things that I needed. They asked me to take their Valentine's (Yes, I know who can possibly think about Valentine's when Christmas is just upon us) paper and shimmer shapes and create something out the of products. They will be doing a flyer for their customers to showcase the new Valentine's Product! The Valentine's Line is really cute ... keep a look out for it! Anyways, this is the finished product. I had to be a little creative since Halloween and Christmas Products are in the stores. I took a orange pumpkin bucket and Wah La.

A "General" Glance at Conference Weekend

WARNING: Due to me trying to blog a bunch of our weekend and because I am loony, I completely posted this post all backwards. If you would like to read it in the correct order, start at the bottom of this post and work your way up!!

What a great weekend! Thanks Everyone for all the Fun!

We ALL enjoyed a great all you can eat Brunch!! About a week ago, we bought mom a present for her Birthday (before her accident and before she started referring to herself as Frankenstein!) We found the cutest Frankenstein potted plant. My kids loved the googly eyes and the cute facial expressions it had. We wondered if we should give mom the gifts due to her accident. But, we decided that she has a great sense of humor and it would be fun. So at Brunch we gave her the gift! She loved it and we were all having fun with the silly pot. On the way out of the hotel, Frankenstein had an accident. The brand new gift bag he was riding it, broke apart and he shattered on the floor. Poor Frankenstein. Maybe we can find another one!

Happy Birthday Mom!

We watched, listened, and some attended conference and we celebrated Mom's Birthday at Little America for Brunch!

Mom was feeling pretty good, or at least she pretended well, so we visited a few craft stores and the girls all painted a cute witch boot while the boys went to the church for the priesthood session.

Grandpa & Grandma Merrill (she doesn't let much slow her down ... not even the table saw), Chad and Jessica also came for Conference! Grandma and Grandpa brought the kids a Witch Cauldron filled with spooky Halloween treats. The kids devoured the candy so we filled the cauldron with Kam.

Grandpa and Grandma brought Taylee (and Tydon) a fun new scrap booking toy... Thank You! It is called Cuttle Kids (check your local Roberts Store). It is a fun little machine that the kids can use to cut out shapes. My kids had a blast!

For those of you wondering what the heck happened, I'll give you the short story, but you'll have to watch for a post on Grandma Sandy's Blog for the complete story! Last Night there was a little (ok, maybe not so little) accident involving mom and the table saw! After a few hours in the ER, sixty stitches, a visit to the dentist, and a lot of pain, I am happy to report that after a little time and healing (of the injury and the pride) that everything is going to be fine!
